Unique coral reef spurs Mexico tourism battle - Wednesday July 28th, 2010

We have dived this site several times over the years and found it to be one of the most beautiful and special places in Mexico's Sea of Cortez. Now it appears Cabo Pulmo, a 20,000 year-old coral reef (the only one in the region), is in real danger. At the center of a dispute is a new, huge resort adjacent to the reef's location; its development could draw thousands more to this remote part of Mexico, and could also lead to its demise from pollution due to run off.
